Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced Ithaca Beer Co. will launch the state's first commercially produced beer made with predominantly New York-grown ingredients to be available year-round and statewide. Brew York is a pale ale that uses nearly 70 percent New York-grown barley and 100 percent New York hops. Produced with ingredients from local farms, Brew York will be available in both bottles and draft starting May 15. Ithaca Beer's investment in this new product line supports Southern Tier Soaring, the region's strategic plan to revitalize communities and grow regional economies.

ITHACA, NY -- Consider this definition carefully: Brew York is the state's "first commercially produced beer made with predominantly New York-grown ingredients to be available year-round and statewide."
That's a bit of a mouthful. It describes a new beer -- a pale ale called Brew York -- that will be made by Ithaca Beer Co. and launched on draft and in bottles on May 15.
Beers made using New York-grown and produced ingredients have become increasingly common in the five years since Gov. Andrew Cuomo and state lawmakers approved the farm brewery law in 2012. That law offers benefits to brewers who pledge to use an ever-increasing percentage of New York ingredients.
Some beers have even been made exclusively with New York ingredients, and many brewers offer beers that exceed the current standards (a minimum 20 percent New York hops and 20 percent all other ingredients).
But none have had statewide distribution and a guarantee of year-round availability.
Food & Wine Magazine, 2017
A proud honor bestowed upon us by Food & Wine magazine - Ithaca Flower Power was voted 25th Most Important Craft Beer Ever Brewed. The vote drew from more than 5,000 breweries and identified brands that spawned, defined and advanced the craft beer movement, made by the influential brewers who brought our country from a low of less than 100 breweries in 1978 to where we are today.
The voting base was comprised of 21 experts from across the American beer scene, including legendary brewers like Sierra Nevada’s Ken Grossman and Boston Beer’s Jim Koch, industry representatives like the Brewers Association’s Julia Herz and veteran beer writers like Aaron Goldfarb and Joshua Bernstein.
USA Today, 2016
Ithaca Beer's Taproom & Beer Garden provide a year-round place of comfort for visitors from near and far. In 2016 we were selected as the 5th best Brewpub in the USA by a reader's poll. A panel of experts picked the initial 20 nominees, and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote. Experts Julia Herz (Brewers Association), Jack Muldowney (The Hop Review) and Ale Sharpton (AleSharpton.com) were chosen based on their extensive beer knowledge and experience.
